by Velma Berryman Kessel

This is a diary of Kessel's thirty-one months working as a Registered Nurse at the Heart Mountain "Relocation Center" Hospital in Wyoming.

Dedicated by the author to the displaced Japanese who were forced to suffer the severe cold, howling winds, scorching heat and dust storms in the treeless camp during WWII; and also to acknowledge the dedication of the five Japanese doctors, who worked for nineteen dollars a month to care for their people.
