Modern Pioneers by Winifred Sawaya Wasden

After the WWII Heart Mountain Japanese Relocation Center between Cody and Powell, WY, was closed, the U.S. government opened the area to homesteaders. Modern Pioneers is an oral history of twenty-four of the women who came here in the late 1940's ato build new lives and homes.

Combatting wind, rattlesnakes, and isolation as well as other hardships, these women overcame the obstacles and had what they callled 'interesting' experiences.

Her in their own words, are their stories.
